When you run an agency, the pressure is always to scale. Hire more juniors, build a sales team, take on more accounts, abstract the founders away from the actual work.
We decided early on that we didn’t want to build an agency. We wanted to stay a two-person studio.
The capacity limit
Because it’s just the two of us, we only take on two active engagements at a time. This isn’t artificial scarcity designed to drive up prices; it’s a structural reality of doing the work ourselves.
When we do a check-up, you talk to us. When we write the integration layer, we write it. When something breaks on a Tuesday afternoon, we fix it.
What this means for you
- No bait and switch. You never get sold by a senior partner only to have the work handed off to a junior developer who just learned Python.
- Speed. We don’t have account managers or weekly alignment syncs. If we find a problem, we fix it in the code immediately.
- Honesty. Because our capacity is capped, we have no incentive to sell you a massive, sprawling project. If your problem can be solved in a week, we will solve it in a week and move on to the next client.
It means we say “no” a lot. If you want a programme of work with a steering committee and a roadmap review every second Friday, we are the wrong fit. But if you want one specific knot untangled by the two people who will actually write the code, two people is exactly enough.
